Plot Summary
Legend of the Blue Sea the drama begins in the Joseon era, where Kim Dam-ryeong (played by Lee Min-ho) is a nobleman who falls in love with a mermaid named Se-hwa (played by Jun Ji-hyun). Despite the challenges posed by their different worlds, they make a promise to each other to meet again in their next lives.
Fast forward to the present day, and we meet Heo Joon-jae (also played by Lee Min-ho), a charming and skilled con artist who teams up with his partner-in-crime Tae-oh to pull off elaborate scams. Joon-jae is on vacation in Spain when he meets a beautiful and mysterious woman named Shim Cheong (played by Jun Ji-hyun), who he saves from falling off a cliff. Unbeknownst to Joon-jae, Cheong is actually a mermaid who has been searching for him for centuries, ever since he saved her from being captured by fishermen in their past lives.
As Joon-jae and Cheong spend more time together, they begin to develop feelings for each other, but their relationship is complicated by Cheong’s mermaid identity and the people who are after her. Joon-jae also has to deal with his estranged mother and a group of people who want to take revenge on him for past crimes…
